At 12:20pm two Chinooks, two Apache helicopters, one Sea King MK4, a C-130-J Hercules and two GR4 Tornados came up over South London and flew low over St Paul’s Cathedral and past the skyline of the City of London.
The conditions weren’t spectacular. Looking south over Clerkenwell from the roof of the Angel Building through a smoggy haze into the still quite low early spring sun. But Angel is where I happened to be, so it had to do.
And the helicopters flew straight over Angel, on a circuit to return over the West End.
All part of the pageantry that marked the end of Britain’s 13 year involvement in the war in Afghanistan
With a hat tip to IanVisits for the, uh, heads up.
